I was born in Cuba, March 7, 1963. My family migrated to Spain in 1974 and eventually to the United States in '77, where we settled in Houston, and have considered Texas our home ever since. God introduced me to my wife Maria 25 years ago, and gave us three boys , and a daughter thru adoption, who are now teens... so needless to say, there is never a dull moment in our home.
I can’t remember a family event that didn't involve food or start with prayer. It was always amazing how my mother was buried in the kitchen the entire time we had guests, and manage to feed huge groups with some pretty incredible dishes. I picked up on that knack for cooking and entertaining family and friends, and these days, we love sitting around the table, eating, sharing, and laughing. I personally enjoy "after dinner" the most...where conversations over dessert and coffee can take you in very unexpected directions. In 2006 I created my own restaurant concept...for more on that visit www.edencafe.net
I first developed an interest in acting at the University of Houston...it was a fluke really, that I took Acting One as an elective, got talked into auditioning for the semester's production, and ended up as the lead-villain. The next few years brought many other roles my way, and I realize then how much I enjoyed performing on stage . My "fork on the road" came when I auditioned for the MFA program at SUNY Purchase, and was accepted...and I had to decide whether to continue an already successful restaurant management career here at home, or pack my bags and move east. Well, I have now been in the restaurant business for 32 years, but I never stopped looking for opportunities to be in front of an audience. My recent project, a film called We Are Stronger (www.strongermovie.com), has brought me to this point in my life, where I believe I am called to use my gifts to honor and glorify God. I have always had a heart for mission work, and have traveled abroad a few times to serve...but I can't imagine a more powerful way to impact people's lives, in near and far away places, with His message of grace and hope, than with my performances on stage or screen.
I suppose you can sum it up like this...God is not finished with me yet...
